What is CAD CAM?

CAD CAM is a method of creating ceramic dental restorations in a revolutionized way, allowing patients to repair their smiles in a single appointment. With conventional methods, the process of placing a dental crown requires several visits to the dental office. The dentist would prepare the tooth, then get impressions using messy impression products that were sent to an outside laboratory to create the restoration. Patients would have a temporary placed until they could return to have their final restoration bonded in place.

With the CAD CAM process, patients can eliminate the wait time and the placement of a temporary restoration. The CAD CAM system uses computer-assisted design tools, also known as “CAD,” to create a dental restoration from a block of porcelain right in the dental office. Preparation, impressions, fabrication, and placement of the dental restoration is done in approximately 20 minutes or less, allowing patients to enjoy the entire process from start to finish in a single appointment.

How do CAD CAM one-day dental crowns benefit patients?

CAM DAM Same-Day Crowns South Pasadena CA

There are many ways in which patients will benefit from the use of CAD CAM one-day dental crowns. These advantages include:

  • Quality ceramic restorations
  • Less invasive procedures
  • No temporary restorations
  • Fewer injections and less discomfort
  • Long-lasting restorations
  • Restorations that look just like natural teeth
  • Cost savings to the patient
  • One dental appointment instead of two
  • No wait for the dental restoration to be created
  • Maintenance of the natural tooth
  • Elimination of extractions

With the use of CAD CAM dental crowns, patients can restore and protect their smile without having to wait for traditional dental practices to receive laboratory-created crowns and instead can have their treatment done from start to finish in a single visit to the dentist’s chair.
